Regular updates for Version 1.* (Student/Standard) Editions have been free for all users since 2008. Although they do not support the more modern graphics capabilities (e.g. GPU stimulus generation), they are the entry-level versions of Psykinematix for students and teachers, respectively, and we will continue to provide regular & updates for these versions. Note however that as of January 2025, the Student Edition has become free, while the Standard Edition was discontinued after receiving a final update for compatibility with macOS 15 "Sequoia". We recommend users of the Standard Edition to upgrade to the GPU Edition, our "New Standard", to continue receiving regular updates. |

Version 2.* Researcher/GPU Edition is a paid upgrade for V1.* users that brings support for GPU-based stimulus generation and is compatible with Intel-based Macintosh computers running Mac OS X 10.6 or better and with M-Series (aka Apple Silicon) Macintosh computers running macOS 11 (Big Sur) or better (you should continue using v1.* otherwise). This is the version we recommend to researchers or advanced users who need additional computational power to run experiments too demanding in terms of video memory or computation time. Note that as of January 2025 the GPU Edition became our "New Standard" Edition for teachers & researchers. ☛ To upgrade to version 2.* GPU Edition from version 1.* Standard Edition, please use the above eligibility checking tool by entering your license information. A quote will be automatically proposed if you are not eligible for a free upgrade. |

Version 2.* Bits#/Display++ Edition (Psykinematix #), available exclusively from Cambridge Research Systems (CRS) and official resellers, is dedicated to the Bits# Stimulus Processor and Display++ LCD Monitor from CRS in addition to GPU support. This edition only works on Intel-based Macintosh computers running Mac OS X 10.6 or better (i.e. it is not compatible with the M-Series). ☛ To upgrade to version 2.* Bits#/Display++ Edition, please contact directly a CRS sales representative (or one of the official regional resellers: Namoto in Japan). |
Important notes about license upgrade:
- upgrading to a new version (e.g. from v1.* to v2.*) still allows you to run a previous version,
- it does not affect your support package if you have one,
- you may upgrade one, several or all your licenses (the eligibility checking tool will provide all available options),
